No-Bake Cookies - Santa's Tagalongs
Santa's Tagalongs are the perfect sweet treat to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve! These irresistible no-bake cookies are simple to make and are a great holiday activity for kids to help with in the kitchen. With just a few ingredients and a bit of dipping magic, you’ll have a batch of delicious, festive cookies that are sure to bring a smile to Santa’s face. No-Bake Cookies - Santa's Tagalongs
INGREDIENTS
Original Ritz Crackers or generic
Nutella or other Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Chocolate Almond Bark
Crushed Candy Canes
INSTRUCTIONS
Assemble Cracker Sandwiches: Spread Nutella evenly on one side of a Ritz cracker. Top with another cracker to form a sandwich. Repeat until you've made as many sandwiches as you'd like.
Prepare the Almond Bark: Break the chocolate almond bark into pieces and melt it according to the package instructions (usually in a microwave or double boiler).
Coat the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the melted almond bark, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a fork to lift the sandwich out of the chocolate and gently tap off any excess. Place on wax paper making sure the cookies do not touch.
Top with Crushed Candy Cane: Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle the top of each coated sandwich with crushed candy canes.
Let Cool: Wait for the chocolate coating to fully harden (about 30 minutes).
Serve and Enjoy! Once the chocolate is completely hardened, your Santa’s Tagalongs are ready to enjoy! Try them with Super Easy Rudolph's Eggnog!
TIPS
Keep Extra Ingredients On Hand: The amount of cookies this recipe yields can vary. Depending on the temperature and thickness of your almond bark, you may create more or less cookies. We like to keep extra crackers, filling, and almond bark on hand to make sure we have enough ingredients to completely use up melted chocolate (or make a few extras if you find your cookies disappearing before you finish making them).
We recommend making these cookies in small batches. This will allow you to heat more almond bark as needed and estimate the amount of cracker sandwiches you will need.
Where to Get Crushed Candy Canes: Bags of crushed candy cane pieces are typically located on the grocery store's baking aisle near the almond bark and chocolate morsels. If you cannot locate these, easily make your own by crushing candy canes in a plastic zip-top bag using a rolling pin.
Mix It Up a Bit: For a little variety, make the original recipe version with peanut butter (do omit the candy canes - we're not convinced these go together). Either version also works well with Vanilla Almond Bark.
Speed Up the Process: For anyone who is a little impatient, use a wax paper covered cookie sheet to place cookies in the freezer. This will speed up the set time of the chocolate and add a cool sensation to complement the peppermint flavor.
